The inaugural Earth Hour took place in Sydney on 31 March 2007, when over two million people and two thousand businesses across the city turned off their lights and appliances for one hour. From its relative humble beginnings, the Earth Hour message has swept the planet.

In 2008, 50 million people across 35 countries turned off their lights in support of Earth Hour, sending a message across the globe that the collective actions of individuals really can change the world.

Women's Day

Women have been gifted with a great endowment. It is said and of course experienced that still in 21st century today; the day serves as a reminder of the fields in which women must still battle for fundamental rights, and where they remain victims of violence and enduring inequalities.

Shall women’s day celebration help us to counter all these things which women suffer these days?

The answer goes with a big No because celebrations never affect but the actions of course does.

It started in 1908, on the last Sunday in February, socialist women in the United States initiated the first Women's Day when large demonstrations took place calling for the vote and the political and economic rights of women. The following year, 2,000 people attended a Women's Day rally in Manhattan, Conceived in 1908, International Women's Day was recognized by the United Nations in 1977. The origin of marking a day for women's rights is actually American -- although, like many such symbolic days, clouded in uncertainty and competing claims.

Yesterday on 8th march I witnessed a huge crowd of women on roads with flowers in hands and celebrating their day but I am sure maximum out of them just celebrated for the sake of it but the concern is what actually and exactly it is for?

Precisely I asked some female folk about this day as I have maximum women folk working in my office some in marketing and some in office and most of them said it is our day and we enjoy a lot and men are jealous that there is no men’s day.

But is that a fact?
Women is something which Allah has created with great love, tolerance, capability, tenderness, warm-heartedness, and so on and it is because of women world moves on. Our beloved prophet(saw) had a great respect for women and if we go through the last sermon of our beloved prophet(saw) we can clearly understand how we should deal with them it goes as under

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have right over you. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to commit adultery

Unfortunately we can elaborate any poet’s couplets in nice wording and here what our beloved prophet(saw) revealed in his last sermon cant be!!!!!!!!!!! Some may say he mentioned just two things but that is not the fact. It has so many liberties for women in it.

Women should be given a great respect be it your mother sister wife or for that matter any women you know or you do not know.
Before commenting on any women we should always recollect that we have a mother sister or wife and should I comment this way about any other women. Take my words as positive I don’t say that if we comment anything it would be always the other way but it can be in anyway so that we try to guard and respect women.

“Women is a great creation of Allah”

It is so nice to see people writing and discussing about Kashmir or ourselves one way or the other.

As i guess people writing here are almost away from our lovely home land but now the thing is what we as kashmiris are doing for our home land.
Some people write why we leave Kashmir and some share their experiences while living in Kashmir and some say people outside Kashmir are requested by their relatives better to stay away.
