Let me cry out,
Say it as I can.
I write on that void,
Kashmir, kaschmir, cashmere, qashmir, cashmir, cashmiere, kashmere, cachmire, cushmeer, cachmiere, Casmir.
Or Cauchemer in a sea of stories?
Or kacmir, kaschmir, kasmere, Kasmere, kerseymere? | | Why Is News The Way It Is..?

News , it might look easy to define a term called, ‘news’ , yet defining it precisely is quite an uphill task. We many a time find people saying that whatever is under the sun is news. But, we do not see every event that happened during last twenty-four (24) hours in the newspapers or news channels. Some say, whatever is new makes news, while others are of the view that, ‘what comes from the four directions viz... North East West & South is news.’ My personal favorite definition being, ‘news is what a person is trying to hide, rest is publicity.’ In a nutshell, news is something which is revealing, is current & topical, and is affecting people in some way or the other.

DD – Kashir….. The moment I come across this particular channel of ours, one question always stuck my mind, viz... Is this what we really are; is this what kasheer is all about?
The purpose of DD- Kashir, being the regional service should be to show-case Kasheer as a whole. It includes our cultures, traditions, languages, customs, the progress we have made and the progress we are making presently. But, instead DD- Kashir is simply and strictly concerning Rouf, Chakker, Band-e-pather and some nonsense drama’s. Whenever, I surf my T.V set and by chance I come to watch DD-Kashir, this is what goes on every time.

Hello Kashmir, This is a very nice platform to bring the kasmiri community closer togather who put up at the farthest places on the globe. I feel glad to see people joining the kashland. unfortunately the hype kashland should have received, is not there, as of orkut, facebook etc. I think kashland can stand as a powerfull toll in the hands of kashmiri people with which we can send out a message across the globe regarding the kashmir issue. I hope more and more people join the kashland and stick with it. Insha Allah. Tajamul.

I have been reading the column “Nostalgia” by ZGM ever since it was first published in the newspaper Greater Kashmir. I am huge of the nostalgia kind of writing or be it movies or anything that simply is about nostalgia. Although I am not that old to be a nostalgic but I still am nostalgic. Nostalgia takes you to your yesterday, which was lovely and beautiful, when you were living for your dreams but today those dreams might have been washed by the tides of time and we are left with nothing but the worries of our future. I believe yesterday is better than today and today will be better than tomorrow. As far as the Nostalgia of ZGM is considered, I was born in the late eighties of the last century.

In that famous scene from the film Raid on Enteebee, which is a dramatized presentation of the hijacking of a plane by Palestinian hijackers, it is shown that the adversaries of Israel know how well-networked the citizens of Israel are. One of the hijackers tells one of the hijacked: “In a small country like yours, everyone knows everyone else.”
Kashland has taken the clear, unambiguous position that Kashmir will eventually be a bridge between India and Pakistan. The delay in this coming about and how long this delay will be is the cross that the Kashmiris have to carry. However, there is no reason why every Kashmiri should not know every other Kashmiri. Or, to put it in terms of modern management vocabulary, networking is the need of the hour for us. And it is easy. The Kurds have a satellite channel of their own and they regard it as the main indication to the rest of the world that they are a nation.

By: Fatima Sultan Syed.

I grew up in Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir, in a small town adjacent to Dal Lake. If mythology were to be my source, I would tell you that life itself emanated from this lake and that monsters and demons hid deep in its waters. But that is a story for another time. Mine is a story of the vengeful spirits still haunting Kashmir today. In this era, they come in the form of competing nations fighting for control of the valley.

Kashmir is a land with problems that have been besetting it for over a century now. After nearly 100 years of direct British rule and nearly 200 years of British colonialism, as a modern, independent nation states, Pakistan and India awoke to life and freedom at midnight between August 14 and 15, 1947 respectively and finally gained independence. In Kashmir, in the last days of October 1947 at that stage, although quoted assiduously by both countries, Kashmir was one of the princely states. Maharaja Hari Singh dreamed of Kashmir as an independent mountain state.
